WMAR Highlights AAEDC Announcement of Redevelopment Opportunity in Glen Burnie, Maryland

May 13, 2024

WMAR-2 (ABC-Baltimore) aired a broadcast segment and published an accompanying article reporting on AAEDC’s announcement of the issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the redevelopment of a County-owned property located at 7409 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie, Maryland: New plans to redevelop a county-owned site in Glen Burnie.

The article reported that AAEDC and Anne Arundel County are seeking to revitalize the area by “creating a vibrant, transit-oriented project with a mix of use,” noting its proximity to the Cromwell Station light rail station, and that they hope the redevelopment can catalyze “the economic revitalization of the broader Glen Burnie Town Center (GBTC) and Glen Burnie Sustainable Community Overlay areas.”

It featured a quote from AAEDC President & CEO Amy Gowan, who said:

We are excited about the potential of this redevelopment project to enhance the community and spur economic growth.

And, finally, the article included a link to AAEDC’s press release announcing the RFP and its 7409 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard RFP web page featuring more details and a link to the full RFP.

The broadcast segment featured commentary from Anne Arundel County Councilmember Allison Pickard, who stated her support for “creating more walkable, sustainable communities,” and from Matt Fleming, Director of the Resilience Authority of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Inc., who expressed his optimism for the area being connected to Annapolis via bikeways and trails.
