The Capital Gazette featured coverage of AAEDC’s and Better Block Foundation’s joint announcement of the Glen Burnie Better Plaza, a placemaking project that re-envisions the Glen Burnie Town Center as a vibrant and inviting gathering space for the community, on the front page of its January 10, 2025 edition.
The article, “Efforts to revitalize Glen Burnie town center include recreational options,” reported that AAEDC and Better Block are hosting an informational Community Kickoff, on January 14, 2025 and encouraging the public to provide feedback on what it would like to see in the area by completing the Glen Burnie Better Plaza Community Survey by February 3, 2025.
The article featured the following commentary from Anne Arundel County Councilmember Allison Pickard, who represents the district including the Town Center:
“There’s a lot more that could be happening in the town center. As far as what the community wants to see there, Better Block will come in and help us do even more of that engagement.“
“Maybe that’s what the community wants to see, a space where every Tuesday during the warm weather months, they can come and gather for small vendors and things. I really could see us being able to shut down a block and have big festivals like you see in Annapolis with the First Sunday Art Festival. What is it that will enliven that space and attract people and families there to really activate it?”
The article was also published on January 9, 2025 by The Baltimore Sun.
