Northrop Grumman’s new Maryland Space Assembly & Test 2 (MSAT2) facility is a multi-million dollar project that aims to increase payload production. It is the company’s largest thermal vacuum chamber on the east coast allowing for payload thermal testing of greater size and volume. The facility’s high-rate robotic manufacturing provides speed, agility, and affordability while eliminating ergonomic risks of assembly personnel.
Catalent specializes in the development, manufacturing and analytical testing for gene therapies and next generation vaccines. It has been at the forefront of COVID vaccine production for the past two years. The company currently has an estimated 600 employees and is expected to have 1,350 full time employees by 2023. Catalent was leasing two buildings totaling approximately 258,000 SF however they later purchased their buildings in the BW Gateway development in Harmans for its manufacturing operations and corporate headquarters. The company is estimated to spend $480 million over four years in real property improvements, furniture, fixtures and equipment. In addition, the company expects to spend over $1.2 billion on salaries, materials, and services in the community.
Hanover-based cybersecurity firm Dragos Inc., raised a $110 million Series C round in 2022. The company specializes in providing threat detection and response services for customers operating in industries such as electric, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining and transportation. The company plans opening its first foreign office and using the new funds to fuel international sales growth.
