Capital Gazette Mentions TD Bank Tornado Grants in MDHCD Loans to Grants Coverage

The Capital Gazette reported on AAEDC awarding grants of $5,000 to five Anne Arundel County businesses that were affected by the tropical storm and tornado that struck the region on Wednesday, September 1  in the following article:

Maryland offers disaster grants as Annapolis small businesses continue to recuperate from September tornado

While focused on the announcement that the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development has changed the disaster loans it was offering to victims of the tornado into grants, the article listed the five recipients of the $5,000 “microgrants:” Annapolis International Market, Chris’s Charcoal Pit, Cricket Wireless, Panther Auto Body, and Cecil Memorial United Methodist Church.

Funded with $25,000 from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank., the program accepted applications from October 26, 2021 through November 5, 2021.

The grants, which will not need to be paid back, can be used for any legitimate business expense including physical property repairs, replacement of business equipment, replacement of inventory, lease/rental support, vendor bill support, or moving expenses support.
