On the first Friday of every month, we will feature an area business that has worked with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) counselor housed at the AAEDC office in Annapolis. Speedpro Imaging first started working with SBDC in September 2014 when they were looking to obtain their MDOT certifications. Speedpro Imaging was accepted into the SBDC’s State Highway Administration’s Business Accelerator Development Program (BDAP) for Construction related businesses in October 2016. BDAP provides expert, tailored/customized and personalized business consulting, coaching and guidance. Since admission into this program, the business has been able to meet with subject matter experts, obtain training classes, and purchase new software for their printers that will help accelerate their business to the next level. Candace Pruett, SBDC Consultant meets with the company’s owner, Leslie Goodwyn, on a monthly basis to determine the company’s needs in each area to then be supported through BDAP.

The owner, Leslie Goodwyn was a participant of the SBDC’s CEO Accelerator Program in the Winter of 2017. The focus of this program is to accelerate the growth of the company by finding the “time and space” to focus, working “on” rather than “in” the business, increasing money-making mind-set and financial knowledge, building a clear and compelling team, developing essential systems, inspiring employees, and creating a strategic collaborative environment.

Leslie has been able to steadily grow the business year after year while working with SBDC. The company now has had a few major job contracts including MGM and Bowie Baysox. Speedpro Annapolis is also the fleet graphics provider for Smith & Company, International Limo of Washington DC and Biomedical Waste Services, Inc. The company is continuing to expand and compete on government contract opportunities.
