Gary Slyman met Candace Pruett, SBDC Business Counselor, at a Boots to Business class she instructed at the Navy Support Activity Annapolis in September 2015. Gary was transitioning careers. Candace set up a meeting one month after the Boots to Business course to review Gary’s Business Plan.
“The Boots to Business Program has been a vital resource in starting my business. It provided the steps to follow, the resources, and support to make my transition to business ownership very smooth. I refer to the materials on a regular basis.”
“As part of the process I met monthly with a Business Consultant from the Small Business Development Center that has proven to be invaluable. She reviewed my business plan, recommended networking events, proposed training, and has been a sounding board for my ideas. I highly recommend taking advantage of this resource.”
Candace met with Gary to go over how to set up the business entity. Candace revised Gary’s business plan and worked with him throughout the cashflow projections. Since Gary is a Veteran, Candace also went over the steps on how to certify as a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB). Gary has been actively attending the SBDC workshops such as the Smart Start 101, How to Grow Your Business with LinkedIn, VOSB Certification, and Digital Marketing & SEO.
Gary Slyman a retired Marine Corps officer is the owner of his company Great Transitions Strategies, LLC. He has several coaching and consulting clients, has presented a leadership development workshop at national conference, is actively networking, and speaking at events.
