First Friday Success Stories: Netrias

This is an ongoing installment of First Friday Success Stories. On the first Friday of every month, we will feature an area business that has worked with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) counselor housed at the AAEDC office in Annapolis. The SBDC counselor is on hand to assist local entrepreneurs and small to mid-size businesses.

Anne Arundel County resident Matt Puglisi co-founded Netrias in 2015 and is currently its Chief Executive Officer. Matt is a seasoned leader with successful experience as a technology company executive, a leader of research and development efforts, government service, and military service. Netrias provides data management, infrastructure, and advanced analytics consulting that enables clients to leverage cutting edge technologies related to personalized medicine. Netrias designs and builds breakthrough technology that helps individuals and organizations to extract knowledge from large sets of data. Netrias is designing an enterprise architecture that runs machine learning algorithms at scale to classify workers’ lifting motions and to provide individualized feedback to prevent back injuries.

Matt became familiar with the SBDC through attending their “Smart Start Your Business” workshop when he began to form the company in 2015. He then met with his consultant in Anne Arundel County, Candace Pruett. Candace has assisted with the company’s business plan, growth planning, government contracting support including SBIR assistance, admin and finance.

In 2016, the company grew substantially adding partnerships with ErgonometriX and Appian Partners. Netrias has been working closely with NIH, DARPA, Invincea labs, and Soltera Defense Solutions. Company revenue projections are expected to grow 30% over this coming year. Netrias currently has three full time employees, two interns and are looking to hire two additional full time employees by Summer 2017.
