Agriculture & Maritime Business Development Director

Shelley Garrett serves as Agriculture Business Development Director at the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation (AAEDC), where she supports the growth and long-term sustainability of the county’s agricultural and maritime industries. She joined AAEDC in 2023, bringing extensive experience in agricultural outreach, conservation, and business support to her role.

Shelley holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Sciences and Technology from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in Environmental Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Prior to joining AAEDC, she spent more than a decade with the Anne Arundel Soil Conservation District, assisting farmers with conservation planning and agricultural best practices. In 2024, Shelley led the successful revision of AAEDC’s agriculture mini grants, transforming them into the Agriculture Business Improvement Grant, which has since awarded more than $88,000 to local farmers.

In her current role, Shelley is dedicated to helping farm businesses thrive while preserving farmland across Anne Arundel County. She serves as liaison to the Anne Arundel County Agricultural Commission and is leading efforts to explore the development of a Regional Agriculture Center for Southern Maryland. Shelley also supports the county’s maritime sector, serving as secretary to the Maritime Industry Advisory Board, and is committed to building programs that deliver lasting value to the communities she serves.
