Programs Designed to Support Your Agricultural Operations & Growth

Arundel Ag offers several programmatic resources specifically created to help farm-based businesses and commercial watermen in Anne Arundel County start, maintain, or expand their operations. In addition, we offer an initiative that aims to support and inspire the next generation of farmers, and support another that seeks to preserve farmland for eternity.

Agricultural Business Improvement Grant (ABIG)

The ABIG annual grant helps farm-based businesses and commercial watermen in Anne Arundel County expand operations and strengthen efficiency through targeted, matching grant funding. These matching grants of up to $10,000 are designed to support growth-focused projects, ABIG invests directly in the tools and infrastructure that drive long-term success.

Eligible residents of Anne Arundel County must complete an application, including a letter of reference and all project details, and award recipients must agree to contribute a one-to-one match for the amount awarded, complete the project within one year, and complete a project report.

Ag Farm Equipment Rental Program

The Farm Equipment Rental Program supports current and aspiring farmers by providing access to a wide variety of farm equipment (including a mobile poultry processing unit) available to Anne Arundel County residents at reasonable rental rates.
Designed to reduce startup and operational costs while supporting diverse farming needs and conservation practices, the program is funded through the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC) with in-kind support from T&C Farm Services. Eligible participants complete a rental application, schedule equipment pickup upon approval, and submit a brief post-rental report to help ensure continued program success.

Agriculture Scrap Tire Disposal Program

The Agriculture Scrap Tire Disposal Program helps Anne Arundel County agribusiness owners safely dispose of farm-use tires at no cost. Because agricultural tires cannot be discarded in the same manner as automobile tires under county regulations, this program provides a convenient and environmentally responsible solution through a designated collection trailer at T&C Farm (4758 Solomons Island Road, Harwood, MD).

The program is made possible through partnerships with the Anne Arundel County Farm Bureau, Anne Arundel County Soil Conservation District, T&C Farm Services, the Maryland Department of the Environment, and Maryland Environmental Service.

About Aggy

Agricultural Education & Outreach Program

The Agricultural Education & Outreach Program supports both today’s farmers and the next generation of agricultural leaders by investing in youth education and hands-on learning opportunities across Anne Arundel County. Through partnerships with local FFA and 4-H organizations, the program helps young people better understand the importance of farming, local food systems, and agricultural careers.

Aggy the Farm Owl , the official mascot of Arundel Ag, brings this mission to life by attending community and youth events, inspiring students to appreciate agriculture and consider future opportunities on the land or water.

Agricultural and Woodland Preservation Program (AWPP)

Anne Arundel County’s Agricultural & Woodland Preservation Program (AWPP) provides financial incentives for property owners who want to preserve working farms and forests for future generations. Through agricultural conservation easements and renewable tax district agreements, landowners can protect their property from development while maintaining agricultural use and receiving financial or tax benefits. The program helps sustain the county’s agricultural heritage, support environmental stewardship, and ensure farmland remains productive for years to come.
