Glen Burnie Town Center

AAEDC is proud to be leading a series of impactful placemaking initiatives that are revitalizing the Glen Burnie Town Center (GBTC) and enhancing connections with the surrounding community.

Discover how we’re transforming GBTC into a vibrant destination where residents, businesses, and visitors come together and thrive.

Glen Burnie Parking Garage Façade Enhancement Project

AAEDC is pleased to announce the issuance of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) that will identify an artist (or artist team) with experience in environmental, iconographic, and conceptual solutions for public art for a large-scale facade enhancement project at the Glen Burnie Public Parking Garage.

Three artists or teams of artists will be selected and provided a $1,500 stipend to develop a concept for the façade enhancement, and the artist with the final selected design will receive an all-inclusive budget of $149,500 for the project.

Applications are due by June 22, 2026, so please learn more about or share this exciting opportunity today!

The Glen Burnie Farmers Market

AAEDC managed the Glen Burnie Farmers Market (GBFM) for the first time in 2025, bringing the market back to the Glen Burnie Town Center on Thursdays from June 12 through September 11. The organization is continuing its leadership in 2026, with the market scheduled to run every Thursday from June 4 through September 24.

The market features fresh, local produce and goods, live music, and food trucks, supporting AAEDC’s agricultural initiatives by connecting residents with local producers, driving economic activity, and advancing community placemaking efforts.

Follow GBFM on social media for updates and weekly vendor announcements and plan a visit this season.

The Arundel Community Reinvestment (ACR) Fund

AAEDC has long supported the revitalization of Glen Burnie’s commercial districts through the Arundel Community Reinvestment (ACR) Fund, which provides property and business owners in designated revitalization areas including the Glen Burnie Town Center with zero-percent interest loans of up to $100,000 and grants up to $50,000 for exterior improvements and site upgrades.

Glen Burnie Town Center Revitalization Plan & Market Study

Completed by the Anne Arundel County Office of Planning and Zoning (OPZ) in 2021, the Glen Burnie Town Center Market Study and Glen Burnie Town Center Revitalization Plan inform all aspects of AAEDC’s work in Glen Burnie.

OPZ collaborated with the Glen Burnie Revitalization Implementation Task Force and the planning firm Mahan Rykiel Associates to complete both documents, which provide a framework for the County and private-sector partners to guide planning, investments, and potential redevelopment in the area over the next ten years and beyond.

Glen Burnie Plaza Revitalization

Activating and enhancing the Town Center Plaza is a key priority in the Glen Burnie Town Center Revitalization Plan. In partnership with the Better Block Foundation, AAEDC launched the Glen Burnie Better Plaza in 2025: a community-driven placemaking initiative that temporarily transformed the space into a vibrant public gathering area through hands-on community participation and a two-day public festival.

Building on that momentum, The Resilience Authority of Anne Arundel County is now leading the long-term Urban Resilience Project to bring permanent infrastructure improvements to the Plaza, with AAEDC continuing to support implementation efforts in the years ahead.

Rotary Park Public Art Mural

Following a competitive RFQ process, AAEDC selected Annapolis native Comacell “Cell Spitfire” Brown Jr. to design and install a new mural on the exterior walls of Rotary Park, located at the corner of Crain Highway and Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie.

Installed in Fall 2025, the mural titled Pathways to Connection, marked Brown Jr.’s 22nd mural in Anne Arundel County and reflected his ongoing impact on the local arts landscape.

Learn more and experience the mural the next time you visit Rotary.

Glen Burnie Town Center Signage

One of AAEDC’s most visible projects at the Glen Burnie Town Center is the installation of bold, colorful directional signs, as well as street pole banners featuring the GBTC logo that AAEDC developed in 2025.

These updates improve wayfinding for residents and visitors while adding energy and a cohesive sense of place throughout the Town Center.

Land Use and Region Planning

Located in Region 3, Glen Burnie is part of a comprehensive planning effort that plays a critical role in advancing economic development and community revitalization. Region Plans build on the County’s General Development Plan by evaluating local assets and needs, establishing a shared vision for growth over the next 20 years, and outlining targeted recommendations for land use, zoning, environmental protection, transportation improvements, public facilities, and community design.

These plans are implemented alongside comprehensive zoning updates that translate the vision into clear, actionable development standards. The Region 3 Plan and Comprehensive Zoning Map were approved on May 5th, 2025.

Glen Burnie Town Center Progress Reports

AAEDC documents its ongoing revitalization, redevelopment, and renewal efforts at the Glen Burnie Town Center (GBTC) through annual progress reports.

The 2024 GBTC Progress Report highlights the initiatives that laid the foundation for projects implemented in 2025. The 2025 Revitalization Report summarizes the placemaking efforts at GBTC, along with additional redevelopment activity across Glen Burnie.
